Being effective at using social media, whether for business or personal use, means having the capacity to capture the attention of people long enough to show them something they didn’t know they wanted, needed or cared about, so that they decide to engage with you.

To do that, you have to compete with the plethora of cuddly kittens, grumpy dogs, and sensational news bytes by offering something more compelling in just the right way, at just the right time. And, as we all know, that ain’t exactly easy. But then again, maybe it is.

Hunter Hayes, a Louisiana-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist says it like this:

“I'm naturally shy, so the social media thing is new to me. I haven't really figured out how my voice sounds on social media, you know? I don't want to tweet everyday just for the sake of tweeting. I want to make sure whatever I do there is honest. Social media can very quickly get fake, and I don't want to be that guy.”

In my humble opinion, Hayes reveals the essence of having an effective social media presence and reinforces the great words of Oscar Wilde “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”

I suspect this might be the best piece of advise anyone could ever offer you about your presence on social media, or anywhere else for that matter.…

In this edition we’re going to explore the pros and cons, do’s and don’ts of social media for coaches. What works well and what doesn’t work at all.
